The Eshima Ohashi bridge is located in the Chugoku region of Honshu. It spans 1.7 km, approximately a mile, across Lake Naukami and links Matsue and Sakaiminato cities. It’s slope has a gradient of 6.1% on one side (the Shimane Prefecture) and 5.1% on the other side (Tottori Prefecture) that gives it the appearance similar to a rollercoaster. It is less scary when driving vehicle on the bridge but when photos are taken from a straight-on angle it seems terrifying. For those having gephyrophobia i.e. a fear of bridges this bridge will still be frightening. Its one mile span and 11.4 meter width makes it the largest concrete road bridge in Japan and the 3rd largest in the world.
